Barrilete cósmico – History of Le Coq Sportif

We continue today the series dedicated to our favorite brands. Let’s talk a little bit about Le Coq Sportif, the legendary rooster brand. It was born in 1882 in Romilly Sur Seine in the French Department of Aube.

In 1939, in a prewar environment, it launched a groundbreaking item , the tracksuit, also known as “Sunday dress”. They also invented the cycling shorts. Since then, Le Coq Sportif has grown up close to the leaders of the Tour de France. Fausto Coppi, a legend of this sport, wore a Le Coq Sportif shirt when he won the Tour. Decades after, Perico Delgado conquered the ports of France wearing the distinct rooster shirt.

Equally, Le Coq Sportif has lefts its imprint on the footie fans. Who cannot remember the Italy squad of Paolo Rossi who defeated the Brazil squad of Zico in the called best game in the history of the world cups? Or the shirt with which Maradona went through those endless 11 seconds in the called “best play ever” by the journalist Víctor Hugo Morales? Or more recently, I remember the talented Justine Henin, the best backhand of the Women ATP Tennis Tour, wearing Le Coq Sportif. In all these unforgettable moments, Le Coq Sportif has supported these heroes shoulder to shoulder.

For all the logotype lovers, here it is our photographer tribute:
