From the football stadium to your feet: Nike Free Flyknit Mercurial Superfly

Cristiano Ronaldo has definitely inspired football vocations, passions and, of course, more than one fashion collection. Nike is no different and has put his face on some of their famous Mercurial football boots: the Nike Mercurial Superfly. The Flyknit technology brought about a revolution within the football world, which was as remarkable as in the rest of sporting shoes, reason why several of the boot models were inspired by names of football players that emerged incorporating the new technology. In addition to lightness, the united Flywire cables on the ankle allowed for added grip and personalized support, also thanks to the Dynamic Fit Collar as well. The aesthetic is the same as other football boots… although in reality they don’t have a tongue because their anatomy is like that of a sock.

But how many people have dreamed of having Cristiano Ronaldo’s boots? This dream became reality when Nike took the upper part of the Nike Mercurial Superfly and added the mythical sole of the Nike Free and released the Nike Free Flyknit Mercurial Superfly within the Nike F.C. Collection. There are already several editions such as the “Savage Beauty” collection inspired by its Portuguese heritage, in which the Nike Free Flyknit Mercurial Superfly took on colorways that used volcanoes from the island of Madeira as a reference. But now it seems that the volcanic eruptions are over, and the red and purple tones of the “Savage Beauty” collection have turned into black and ash in the latest models released for the Nike F.C. Summer 2016 Collection.

It’s true, the Free injected sole adapts perfectly and gains flexibility thanks to the lateral grooves and the rubber pads placed strategically on the sole in places with greater wear.
