My first basket kicks: Nike Air More Uptempo

Some years ago, Saturdays followed a routine that you never get tired of: television, sports and friends. The desire of sports was satiated playing basketball at school: the Jordan phenomenon had got to keep my mind out of football.

NBA got together some of the best players ever. Jordan, Magic, Barkley had magnetism and possessed charisma; these turned them into the stars of the moment. If there was a way of getting close to our idols, was to wear their kicks.

Some NBA seasons passed until I got hold of a pair of Nike, a personal achievement! At least, I saw it that way. The first model I got was the Nike Air More Uptempo, a shoe with the air technology all over the sole. For the first time, the AIR word appeared on a giant size, following the time’s trend of doing everything huge and showy.

As if the model features weren’t enough, that’s not the case, the Oregon’s brand launched the Air More Uptempo during the Atlanta Olympics Games from the hand of Scottie Pippen, one of the starts of the league and the luxury squire of Michael Jordan. The success was inmediate. In the months previous to the London Olympic Games, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Dream Team, Nike has reissued a shoe under the name of Nike Air More Uptempo “Olympic”, keeping the essence of the original model.

These were my first Nike sneakers. Which one were yours?
