Casablanca SS21 is the answer from Charaf Tajer, the brand’s creative director, to the events that are destroying our world. It is an attempt to share a dose of positivism with a message of hope: After the rain, comes the rainbow.
Paris Fashion Week was the perfect scenario to introduce Casablanca’s last collection to the world. Under the headline ‘After the Rain Comes the Rainbow’, the brand’s Spring/Summer 2021 proposal aims to bring some light and optimism at a moment when misfortunes blight in each part of the world. According to Tajer himself, the quarantine “gave us enough time to reflect on life in general, which gave me reasons to try and share some hope in next season’s collection”.
This collection’s garments feature colorful and paradisiacal prints and patterns, evoking dream landscapes that invite us to escape reality. These imageries cover silk shirts, scarfs and denim pieces. Light knitted garments feature Casablanca’s distinctive graphics, featuring tennis elements or fruity still lives. Linen and lightweight technical fabrics form the leading materials. These fabrics are the reason that a tracksuit becomes one of the most casual total-looks from the collection.
With no doubt whatsoever, one of the most commented aspects has been the presentation of a new collaboration with New Balance 327. This time, the silhouette plays with burgundy and off-white colors. The date they are going to drop is supposed to be announced at the beginning of 2021. Another element that is worth mention in the collection is the introduction of Casablanca Surf Club, a nod from Charaf Tajer to Hawaii, where he spent the first part of his confinement.
