COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT reissues the classic ASICS GEL-Lyte III, applying a colorful camouflage print and an asymmetrical shape on the split tongue.
For the first time in January this year, we saw them at the COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT FW20 presentation on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. Now, the highly anticipated sneakers are finally going on sale.
COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT has teamed up with ASICS to launch a new version of the GEL-Lyte III silhouette. The upper has a striking camouflage print on nylon fabric, combined with another layer of suede in neutral gray. The colorful print also covers the EVA foam midsole and perfect cushioning just as the legendary silhouette promises.
The colorway combines orange, pink, blue, and green, resulting in a wild palette. The name GEL-LYTE III appears on the sides in the heel area. In other hand, the classic COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT leads the midsole, at the same height as the first model. We also find a special readjustment on the reed. The iconic split tongue appears on this shoe in an asymmetrical version, a subtle but decisive detail, especially for fans of the Japanese brand.
The original Gel-Lyte III silhouette was born in the early ’90s with a design by Shigeyuki Mitsui. Its technology’s distinctive point is in the ASICS patented GEL system, one of the most famous performance systems in the sneaker world. Interestingly enough, the shoe is now in its first thirty years of life.
The COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT x ASICS GEL-Lyte III will be available today at 00:01 CET in this link.
