On the occasion of the relaunch of the adidas Forum 84 High OG, at Foot District we wanted to pay tribute to this iconic pair through this editorial.
In it, basketball visits fashion without losing that hi-fashion essence that elevates the sneaker. This is how the adidas Forum adapts to the trends of today’s world, 36 years after its first launch.
The truth is that this sport is intrinsic to the adidas Forum. So much so that the sneaker debuted on an actual basketball court in 1984. However, their price of 100 dollars, unheard of at the time, made the Forums quickly become a coveted symbol of the best local players, artists and heroes from around the world.
Although it was released in 1984, it all started a year earlier. In 1983, young designer Jacques Chassaing aimed to create the best basketball sneaker ever created. To do this, he studied the behavior on the court of the players of the moment and realized something very interesting. Most of them, sooner or later, end up suffering ankle injuries. This is how the idea of implementing an adjustable strap that fulfilled the function of a bandage and that provided stability came up.
This year, the Forum returns reissued and reimagined for this new reality. Although it’s sometimes hard to believe, there are some things that never change and the taste for the aesthetics of the original Forum sneaker is one of them.
This 2021, the adidas Forum returns to stay, but, in a completely different generation. This time designed for Generation Z, this pair promises to become a new success for the sports giant.
And you, do you already have yours?
