Jordan 1

Jordan 1

Talking about the Air Jordan 1 isn't just talking about sneakers. The most sought after sneakers in history have been reigning in the streetwear scene for years, standing as a symbol of basketball and a piece of culture and history that embodies the legacy of Michael Jordan. The Jordan 1 turned the world upside down when released back in the 1980s and nothing has since, nor will ever be the same.

The start of an era

The partnership between Nike and Michael Jordan made world history in both the sports and streetwear scenes, changing the whole landscape and creating a new culture that continues to expand today. When the rookie NBA basketball player signed with Nike and the Jordan brand was born, sportswear shoe designer Peter Moore was responsible for creating what would be the Air Jordan 1. It was the 1984/85 season and Jordan still wore the Nike Air Ship model during games, which would set the stage for the main outline of the AJ1 design.

From a few dollars to an empire

The Air Jordan 1 debuted with the "Bred" colorway, and soon after the brand launched other colorways that we can find today under the Air Jordan 1 OG category, such as the Chicago or the Royal Blue. The Jordan 1 Bred, in red and black, was initially forbidden for not respecting the NBA dress code regulations. Censorship did nothing but feed what would end up becoming a legend. Surprisingly, the model went on sale for only $65 when it first released. Season after season, the silhouette was revalued and the Jordan brand would launch new reissues of the original silhouette. To talk about Air Jordan 1 is to talk about the culture of basketball, hip-hop, and the evolution of urban and street fashion.

A collector's treasure

The various versions of the Air Jordan 1 that the the Jordan brand has created and released boast genius concept and deep history. Some colorways, such as the iconic Shattered Backboard, represent historical milestones and pay tribute to unforgettable moments in the history of Michael Jordan, such as when he broke the backboard in an exhibition game in Italy in 1985. From the Wings logo to subtle tributary elements, the Jordan 1 have created an exciting image, with a multitude of details that embody the essence of MJ and the love of basketball. An entire revolution that has forever marked the dynamics of the sneakerhead culture, becoming the most coveted sneaker among sneaker collectors.
