In a fusion of design, irony, and sport, adidas Originals joins forces with AVAVAV in a collaboration that plays with the boundaries of fashion and high-performance sportswear, under the unique vision of creative director Beate Karlsson.
The collaboration debuted at Milan Fashion Week, where AVAVAV presented its version of sportswear with a proposal as unexpected as it was provocative. Karlsson introduces absurd athletic challenges, knee-high boots, and adidas Superstars featuring AVAVAV’s iconic toes, creating an ironic contrast between high-performance sports and conceptual fashion.
With this collection, the designer redefines the concept of movement, exploring how a brand far from sports can reinterpret it with humor and extravagance. It’s an approach that playfully mocks the intense seriousness often found in both sports and fashion, maintaining a disruptive and fun attitude.
adidas and AVAVAV, Goth Streetwear
AVAVAV’s aesthetic blends the sporty essence of adidas’ archives with a gothic touch, which Karlsson incorporates through anatomical cuts, garments adorned with bandages, and graphics inspired by the body’s structure. This collection combines the classic with the unexpected, uniting seemingly opposite worlds in each design.
A standout piece is the Beckenbauer jacket, reimagined as a visual homage to adidas. It’s a nod to the brand’s legacy, instantly recognizable and reinterpreted in a way that showcases adidas’ iconic power.
