In 1947, two partners of German descent were in a small town in Northamptonshire about to make history. They aimed to produce a useful, economical and reinforced shoe that could withstand the great diversity of physical tasks that they had to perform at that time. Thirteen years later, a legend was born: the first Dr. Martens, a boot with a special, resistant and durable sole, designed to relieve the long standing days of workers of all ages.

Although originally its boots were designed exclusively for workers, they soon spread to younger generations. In the 1970s, their sales skyrocketed as they became an international icon of rebellion thanks to Pete Townshend of the Who, the first to show them off on stage.
