Since its birth in 1996, the Japanese company Medicom Toys has grown to occupy a prominent place in the prolific world of collectible figures and street art. This, in large part, thanks to their most famous creation: the Be@rbrick bear.

A bear-shaped blank canvas

Medicom Toys was born in 1996 as a platform dedicated to urban toys, more associated with art and design than with children's games. Of all the series in the catalogue of the Japanese firm, the Be@rbick bear stands out. This resin figure reminiscent of LEGO has become a real mass phenomenon over the years.

The first time that the favourite toy of hypebeasts and collectors around the world saw the light of day was at the 12th World Convention in Tokyo, and it did so in the form of a gift to the attendees. It was in 2001 and today, 21 years later, its popularity has not stopped growing thanks to the fact that it has served as a canvas for renowned artists of the urban art scene like Simone Legno, KAWS or Nathan Jurevicious. But besides the infinite series that populate the contours of his figure with thematic motifs, his collaborations with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Off-White and Gucci are well known and appreciated.
