From its origins in the mountains of Yosemite, Gramicci has gained ground as a brand in urban styles, becoming a legend in Japan.
Heir to the outdoor subcultures of Yosemite National Park, climber Mike Graham created highly durable corduroy trousers with a new pattern that included a gusseted crotch for ease of movement and an integrated belt to prevent snagging.
Graham used the nickname he was known by for his brand, an Italianization of his name, Gramicci. An inside joke that aimed to turn him into an Italian climber. Almost by chance, one of the brands that has best connected its outdoor origins with its influence on the streets was born.
The durability of its materials and its bold and active character made Gramicci a regular brand in an unexpected environment, 1990s streetwear. From there, it jumped to Japan, a place with a significant history in the outdoor scene, where Gramicci established its legend.
While maintaining its designs, created to facilitate movement, Gramicci's trousers, t-shirts, and hoodies have become essential in Gorpcore and a timeless classic.
