The origin of Reebok

Reebok's origins date back to 1895, when J.W. Foster and Sons created spiked running shoes for British athletes. This footwear enabled Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell to win gold medals at the 1924 Olympic Games, a feat immortalized in the film "Chariots of Fire."

Modern-day Reebok was born in 1958 thanks to Joe and Jeff Foster, grandsons of J.W. Foster. Its major expansion began in 1979 when Paul Fireman introduced the brand to the United States, launching iconic models such as the Reebok Freestyle, designed specifically for women in the growing fitness culture.

An era of classics

During the 80s and 90s, Reebok established itself as a market leader in the U.S. with revolutionary technologies such as DMX and The Pump, alongside collaborations with sports stars like Shaq O'Neal, Allen Iverson, and Dennis Bergkamp. It was also the creator of official NBA uniforms.

In cultural terms, Reebok made its mark in the U.K. as a chav symbol and in the U.S. by sponsoring concerts with Amnesty International. Later, it developed exclusive lines with artists like Jay-Z, G Unit, and Pharrell Williams, culminating in collaborations with Kendrick Lamar. Today, Reebok updates its classic silhouettes with new ideas and creative partnerships.
