Nike Zoom Vomero 5, Y2K aesthetic

The fifth shoe in the Vomero saga arrived in 2010-11 following the patterns of its predecessors: the maximum cushioning model for runners. The name was a reference to a neighborhood in Naples and the insole featured the "Bowerman Series" stamp, a Nike collection inspired by its founder, Bill Bowerman, and focused exclusively on performance.

In the midsole, Cushlon and Zoom were a guarantee of comfort. Their design, based on layers of different materials, was the key to an aesthetic that a few years later would become a trend a decade later.

Nike Vomero, a contemporary design

The return of the Nike Vomero 5, came from Samuel Ross, who launched a collaboration through his brand A-COLD-WALL* in 2018. Unlike other models, the success of the Vomero has not relied on collaborations but on general releases in different colorways.

The Y2K style, revived as a trend for everyday wear and the incredible comfort of the Vomero were enough to make it one of the silhouettes of the moment, the Vomero for women has been the sneaker that represents an era.
