Salomon XT-4, Sensifit, ACS and Quicklace

The Salomon XT-4 was created to revive a story that began in the early 2000s with the XT Wing. This footwear family is nearly perfect and only requires minor adjustments with each update. Any deviation from the essential ideas of the XT series could be problematic for ultramarathon runners, the primary users.

Salomon designed the XT-4 with key features such as adjustment, stability, reactive amortisation, and quick closure. It includes Sensifit™, a platform that allows for personalised adjustments, and Agile Chassis™ Skeleton, a mid-suspension system that provides stability with two different density components. The EVA foam provides adjustable cushioning for different terrains, while the Quicklace™ system allows for quick and safe adjustments.

The aesthetics of the Salomon XT-4, created with function as the sole objective, were also appreciated by those who were far away from the mountains. Elements such as Sensifit or Quicklace implied a groundbreaking aesthetic that was something new.

Collaborations with designer Boris Bidjan Saberi and The Broken Arm were the first to recognise a change in context. Salomon's technical benefits demonstrated their functionality in a variety of settings.
