Stone Island was founded by Massimo Osti in 1982. A year later, the brand was acquired by Carlo Rivetti of GFT. Massimo Osti was the designer of the brand for several years, drawing inspiration from innovative materials previously used as tarps for military trucks, as well as a military-themed four-point wind rose compass for the logo.
