Quai 54 is the most important streetball competition in the world and its relationship with Jordan Brand has resulted in some of the most sought-after sneakers.
In 2002 Hammadoun Sidibé and Thibaut de Longeville were inspired by New York streetball tournaments and created Quai 54, which is now considered the biggest event in the world of street basketball, featuring 5x5 tournaments, slam dunk contests, concerts, and the presence of basketball and hip hop stars.
The influence of this tournament extends beyond sports, allowing it to amplify its relevance to music and the arts. Every summer, Quai 54 becomes the sports and cultural hub of Paris.
In 2006, Jordan Brand became the main partner of Quai 54 and their first collaboration—the AJF V Wine and Grind—appeared shortly after, followed by Air Jordan 1, Jordan 2 (2016), Jordan 3 (2018), Jordan 5 (2011), Jordan 8 (2019), or Jordan XIII (2015).
Every year, a complete collection is launched including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and accessories, with designs revolving around a common theme, featuring references to basketball, hip hop, and Afro-descendant cultures in the United States and France.
The collection that combines Jordan and Quai 54, an alliance based on basketball and hip hop culture, is available at FOOTDISTRICT.
