A century-old brand

Ehraardt Koch, a German immigrant who founded New Era in 1920, was the original name of the company. Only after her son Harold joined the business and suggested producing caps for the Cleveland Indians did its designs begin to resemble baseball. This radically altered the course of New Era.

A baseball legend

For the next few decades, New Era was the only independent brand to create products specifically for the major leagues, and its creation, the 59FIFTY, became a model to be emulated.

The Yankees cap, with the N and Y intertwined, jumped from the diamond to the catwalks thanks to New Era's relationship with George Steinbrenner, the legendary owner of the Yankees. Spike Lee, another New Yorker, dared to wear it in colours other than the original in the 1990s.

Beyond baseball

In recent decades, New Era has fostered legends in other sports while developing new products inspired by its history. NFL, NBA, and collaborations with brands such as Alpha Industries and Supreme, as well as designers such as Ralph Lauren and Just Don.
