Blondey McCoy: more London than the Thames

To understand the Thames MMXX universe, you must first understand the figure of its founder, creative director, and ideologist: Blondey McCoy. The new enfant terrible of British streetwear is a precocious genius who has known how to build a brilliant career based on his sense of smell, good taste, and talent.

With a British mother and Lebanese father -although he was raised by his grandmother-, Blondey McCoy has been involved in fashion and skateboarding since he was a teenager. Signed as a professional skater by Palace at the early age of 14, this Londoner has modeled for brands like Supreme, Burberry, Valentino, and adidas, just to name a few. An early and meteoric career that culminated, unsurprisingly, with the founding of his own brand: Thames MMXX.

Thames to Thames MMXX

But the road hasn't been easy. The brand started in 2015 as an extension of his love for skateboarding. Stickers, fashion editorials, a couple of clothing collections a year, collaborations... All was going well, but something wasn't quite sitting right at Thames. And Blondey knew it.

In 2019, Blondey announced that he was taking a break and putting Thames "on hiatus." He needed time to think and decide which direction he wanted to take with his brand. So, after much meditation, Blondey did a 180º twist and transformed - or rather evolved - Thames into Thames MMXX. A look at his origins from British classicism and his passion/obsession for the world of skateboarding. Obviously, the change was more than good for him.

Thames MMXX is not just another street and skate brand.

The new brand identity is full of British essence and tradition. In this way, grime or hardcore punk makes space for classical music as the signature soundtrack. Soccer scarves are replaced by silk scarves. Hoodies are replaced by knitted polo shirts for playing cricket. A dive into the depths of British tradition, thanks to the genius of Blondey McCoy, moves away from any stagnation to become one of the most desired brands today.

A movement that has turned Thames MMXX into a true style icon for the trend-savvy. Find our selection of clothing and accessories in the online store of the British brand at FOOTDISTRICT.
