The adidas Originals A. Aspden SPZL is a tribute from the series curator, Gary Aspden, to his father. Inspired by the aesthetics of the 1970s, specifically the design of a leisure shoe called the adidas Las Palmas, with a base inspired by the Hawaii tooling. This new version captures the simplicity and timeless style of the best white sports shoes while adding distinctive features that give it a unique identity. Carefully selecting elements from vintage court shoes, the sneaker pays homage to timeless design while staying true to its minimalist essence.
The adidas Originals A. Aspden SPZL features a white leather upper with perforated stripes to subtly incorporate adidas’ DNA. The tongue has been reworked, with a nylon insert inside a leather frame, while the heel and eyestay have been adjusted for a more refined look. The contrasting chalk-white outsole and new heel overlay provide a solid, stylish foundation. A vintage-inspired signature on the lateral side adds a unique touch, while the overall silhouette retains the elegance and simplicity that define the best classic white sports shoes.
