Pokémon was born in 1996 with the video games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green for Game Boy, and since then, its universe has never stopped growing. Video games, cards, anime, movies, and merchandise have turned its creatures into recognizable characters worldwide. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, adidas recovers some of its designs to bring them to the Pokémon field.
The adidas Pokémon Adistar XLG 2.0 "Gengar" take as reference the speed and levitation powers of one of the most recognizable Pokémon from Kanto. A large eye stands out in the design, while the molded 3D spikes on the heel and the structure of the XLG 2.0 reinterpret its characteristic smile. The laces incorporate ornaments with Gengar's face and a Poké Ball to complete the silhouette.
